Only if you tell them! SMP looks identical to real hair, people will assume you've shaved your hair down to a short buzz-cut style. Nobody will know it's SMP unless you tell them.
What is Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP)?
Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a non-surgical treatment that uses detailed micro-needles to deposit pigment into the scalp. This technique replicates the appearance of natural hair follicles, giving the look of a fuller head of hair or a closely shaven scalp.
How many sessions are required?
Typically, 2-3 sessions are needed to achieve optimal results. Each session is spaced about 1-2 weeks apart, allowing the pigment to settle and the scalp to heal between treatments.
Is SMP painful?
Most clients report minimal discomfort during the procedure. A numbing agent is sometimes applied to the scalp to ensure comfort throughout the treatment. The sensation is often compared to light scratching or mild tingling. For reassurance, we've never had a client unable to sit through a session!
How long do the results last?
The results of SMP last for 3-5 years on average. Over time, the pigments may fade slightly due to natural skin exfoliation, but touch-up sessions can maintain the desired look.
